My Faith in Jesus Christ

I guess everyone who has come to be a follower of Christ has a unique story about how He has influenced their lives. I am no different. As a kid, I went to church like a lot of people, but as I became a teenager I drifted away from it. I never felt a draw back to the church and Christianity until my middle twenties, when I felt like I was missing something in my life. One day I discovered the something that was missing was actually 'someone'.

I began to listen to people speaking about Jesus Christ on the A.M. radio and on TV and at first I thought they were amusing at best. But the more I tuned in, the more I realized that the messages they were giving were starting to influence my life. Soon, many of the decisions I made all centered around how I should approach things from a Christian standpoint. I began to try and live a Christ centered life, and while we all fail to live up to His expectations, to me the promise of salvation through faith in Christ was worth at least making a good effort.

Since I made this change, my life has been blessed more than I could have ever hoped. I have caught more fish, seen more places and made more friends than I would have ever dreamed. I am still young, but I feel like I have lived a full life already. I seriously doubt I would be fishing for a living right now if it weren't for my faith in Jesus Christ. As with any business, there are many obstacles to overcome on a daily basis in order to be successful, but by placing my trust in Him, He has reduced those mountains of adversity to mere bumps in the road.

It doesn't matter how far away you have gotten from the church or from Christianity altogther, God is the patient type. He is willing to stand by your side no matter what direction your life takes you, as long as you put your trust in Him. The salvation Christ offers does not depend on what we have done for Him, but rather on what He has done for us. This salvation requires a helpless admission of our sins, and to ask for His forgiveness. Jesus Christ lives today and faithfully blesses and enriches the lives of those who obey Him. Throughout the centuries, multitudes have acknowledged the worthiness of Christ including many who have greatly influenced the world.

I never take a single day for granted anymore and I thank God every day for giving me the opportunities I have been given. My faith in Christ has become unshakable and as the song says, "Christ is the Rock upon which I stand, all other ground is but shifting sand".

If you are still unconvinced about the reasonableness of faith in Christ, you are not alone. Becoming a strong believer doesn't happen overnight for most. It doesn't matter how you have lived your life up until this point. If you would like to make a decision to put your trust in Christ, pray something like this: "God, I know I'm a sinner. I know I can't save myself. I believe Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins. I believe He rose from the dead to live His life through all who believe in Him. I now receive him as my Savior. I accept your offer of forgiveness and everlasting life. Thank You, Father. In Jesus name I pray. Amen."
